West Point Family RelationshipChuck Russell, USMA class of 1956, owned Omni Travel Service (OTS) for a period of ten years. For a number of years OTS was the travel agency for the Association of Graduates (AOG). During that period OTS donated nearly $50,000 to the AOG specifically for the support of cadet activities. OTS also donated over one hundred free airline tickets to the AOG and cadets. In addition to providing all types of quality travel service to cadets, graduates, families and friends of West point, OTS also arranged cruises for members of the classes of 1955, ‘56 (2 cruises) as well as a cruise for June Week West for the US Naval Academy Alumni Association. Agency ProfileSubsequent to the merger of OTS with Peachtree Travel Management (PTM), the same dedication to provide quality travel services at the lowest cost to the USMA crowd has continued. The owner of PTM has also continued the OTS policy of donating ten percent of regular commissions to the West Point family for which we have arranged cruises and land tours. Its not likely that any travel agency can arrange group travel as inexpensively as PTM which has a very strong agency affiliation with Carlson Wagonlit Travel, the second largest travel company in the world. Its volume of business results in the lowest cost for all travel, including cruise and tour space, in the industry. One other definite consideration is that the PTM leisure department which will support this leisure travel program is managed by the same manager, Jeannene Harper, who supported the USMA effort several years for OTS. She is a delightful professional who has been to West Point more than once, interacted with graduates, cadets and families. As manager of OTS she directed the efforts of dedicated professionals ensuring the best possible treatment of the West Point family. A pleasant sidelight is that as a consequence of the relationship between OTS and USCC, two OTS travel agents married graduates whom they met during the process of arranging cadet travel. |
